Position Summary 

The Financial Staff Writer is responsible for creating, editing, and translating high-quality content that supports PWL’s thought leadership, client education, marketing initiatives, and brand strategy. Working closely with the Brand Experience team and subject matter experts across the business, this role transforms complex financial planning, investment, and wealth management concepts into clear, engaging, and accessible content for clients, prospects, advisors, and employees. 

The successful candidate is an exceptional writer and storyteller with strong editorial skills, capable of developing content across multiple channels and formats while maintaining consistency with the firm’s brand, voice, and regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in amplifying the firm’s expertise and supporting content-driven business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Content Development & Writing 

  • Research, write, edit, and proofread a variety of content pieces, including: 
    • Articles and thought leadership pieces
    • Financial planning and investment education content 
    • Website copy and landing pages 
    • Client communications and newsletters 
    • Advisor communications and internal updates 
    • White papers, guides, and reports 
    • Event materials and presentation content 
    • Video scripts, podcast summaries, and supporting materials
  • Translate complex financial concepts into clear, concise, and engaging language tailored to various audiences. 
  • Conduct interviews with advisors, portfolio managers, executives, and subject matter experts to develop content and capture insights. 
  • Ensure content aligns with the firm’s brand voice, messaging framework, and strategic objectives. 

Editorial & Content Management 

  • Edit and review content for clarity, accuracy, consistency, grammar, and style. 
  • Manage content revisions and feedback from stakeholders across the organization. 
  • Maintain editorial standards and support the ongoing development of content guidelines and style resources. 
  • Support content planning and editorial calendar initiatives.  

Translation & Bilingual Content Support 

  • Coordinate and/or perform translation and adaptation of content between English and French. 
  • Review translated materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with brand messaging. 
  • Collaborate with external translation providers when required. 
  • Support the creation and maintenance of bilingual marketing and client-facing materials. 

Marketing & Brand Experience Support 

  • Partner closely with the Brand Experience team to support marketing campaigns, digital initiatives, and strategic communications. 
  • Develop content that supports lead generation, client engagement, brand awareness, and advisor enablement. 
  • Contribute ideas for new content themes, campaigns, and storytelling opportunities. 
  • Assist with content optimization for digital channels, including websites, email communications, and social media platforms. 

Compliance & Quality Assurance 

  • Ensure all content adheres to regulatory, compliance, and legal requirements applicable to the financial services industry. 
  • Collaborate with compliance and business stakeholders during content review and approval processes. 
  • Maintain a high standard of quality, professionalism, and accuracy across all published materials. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a related field. 
  • 3–7 years of professional writing, editorial, content marketing, or communications experience. 
  • Experience within wealth management, financial services, investment management, banking, insurance, or a related industry is strongly preferred. 
  • Experience creating thought leadership and educational content is considered an asset. 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling abilities. 
  • Ability to simplify complex financial concepts for a broad audience. 
  • Strong interviewing, research, and information-gathering skills. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. 
  • Understanding of content marketing, digital communications, and brand storytelling principles. 
  • Familiarity with Canadian financial services terminology and regulatory considerations is an asset. 
  • Professional-level French language proficiency (written and verbal) is required. 
  • Experience translating or adapting content between English and French.
