Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Wealth Management Analyst to provide services to our high-net-worth clients. This role is ideal for a candidate with 5–10 years of experience in the financial services industry who is passionate about delivering personalized, holistic financial advice and building long-term client relationships.
The candidate must currently be registered with CIRO as an Associate Portfolio Manager and will initially join the team as a Senior Wealth Management Analyst, with intention of their title transitioning to Senior Wealth Management Analyst, Associate Portfolio Manager upon re-approval by CIRO.
As a key member of the Parkyn-Doyon La Rochelle Team, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining the ongoing relationships and supporting the Lead Advisors in the development of new clients. Responsibilities include, ensuring full compliance with Know Your Client (KYC), risk, and suitability requirements, and providing investment advice within the context of managed portfolios under the supervision of a Portfolio Manager. A central focus of the role will be conducting comprehensive reviews of each client’s financial and personal situation to create customized, actionable financial plans tailored to their unique goals and circumstances.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge in the core areas of financial planning, investment management, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning. They will also demonstrate a deep commitment to professional development and continuous learning in the above-mentioned areas.
This is a client-centric role for someone who thrives on problem-solving, values collaboration, and is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of the clients they serve. In addition, this position involves the supervision of the services delivered by the Financial and Tax Analysts and the Client Operations Specialist. Mentoring, coaching and supporting team members is also part of the role.
Essential Functions
Client Service:
- Extensive communication with clients.
- Respond to client inquiries and information requests promptly and accurately.
- Client meeting planning, facilitation and participation.
- Responsible for client meeting debriefs and list of tasks delegation to the team members involved.
- Seek to establish a level of trust and confidence with clients by delivering high quality service.
Investment Advice:
- Conduct in-depth client discovery meetings to gather and assess relevant financial and personal information, ensuring alignment with Know Your Client (KYC), Know Your Product (KYP), and risk suitability standards.
- Apply a deep understanding of CIRO rules related to managed accounts and suitability, ensuring compliance with internal Associate Portfolio Manager (APM) supervision policies
- Evaluate clients’ financial profiles and investment objectives to conduct due diligence and ensure that portfolio strategies align with their risk profile (risk tolerance and risk capacity) and their overall goals.
- Collaborate in the implementation of tax-minimizing strategies (i.e. income splitting, asset location, retirement withdrawals, investment products, tax-loss harvesting, etc.).
Financial Planning:
- Provide comprehensive, personalized financial advice to help clients define, prioritize, and achieve their long-term financial goals.
- Collaborate in assessing clients’ retirement, tax and estate planning needs, formulating financial plans and solutions to fulfill client objectives, implement financial plans and monitoring and reviewing them regularly.
- Responsible for the preparation of retirement projections, retirement income optimizations, personal balance sheets, pension plan analysis and stocks and stock options reports.
- Responsible for the preparation of estate balance sheets, estate tax projections, estate tax liquidity projections.
- Coordinate with external specialists, the preparation of personal Wills, mandates of protection, general or specific power or attorneys.
- Collaborate in the development of recommendation with regards to tax, estate, retirement, investment & risk management planning.
- Refer to or consult with external tax specialists for advanced income tax planning needs.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Constant monitoring of the list of tasks and mandates to be delivered and managing the priorities in order to meet the established schedule with the clients.
- Supervise the Financial and Tax Analysts and Client Operations Specialist and collaborate to her/his development.
- Support team in developing best practices in management and services delivered.
- Support team in refining value proposition to customers.
- Participate in web content development to support team web and social media initiatives.
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications & Skills
- Must have at least 5-10 years of relevant experience within the financial services industry
- Must be able to qualify to become an Associate Portfolio Manager as per CIRO’s definition
- Must have completed the F.Pl.® designation
- Must have completed the CIM® or CFA designation
- Ability to communicate effectively in French and English, both orally and in writing.
- Other financial designations are considered an asset
- Proficient knowledge of investing and financial planning
- Experience with Conquest is an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must be a motivated, independent self-starter
- Must be able to function well within a team environment
- Exceptional time management skills and ability to multi-task
