Position Summary
This role is ideal for an individual with an interest in capital markets and wealth management. The successful candidate should have the ability to work well within a dynamic team in a high-pressure environment. This position is not client-facing and perfect for a candidate who is enthusiastic about supporting all investment and cash related activities for the firm.
Working closely with the Advisor and Operations teams, the successful candidate will process buys and sells of securities as well as all cash movement on behalf of our clients. Regularly monitoring portfolios to ensure that they are compliant and within Investment Policy guidelines. It is expected that employees in this role will continuously build their own expertise in financial planning, tax, and portfolio management through the pursuit of professional designations (CFA, CFP, CIM etc.).
Responsibilities & Activities
- Track incoming and execute outgoing regular and ad-hoc cash transfers
- Process wire transfers, request cheques and send electronic funds transfers
- Work with portfolio management team to ensure that client accounts remain fully invested
- Submit and reconcile incoming client account transfers
- Resolve transfer issues and ensure timely delivery of securities
- Execute trading and portfolio implementations as directed by Portfolio Managers
- Trade account positions and manage block trades with our custodian’s trading desk
- Reconcile monthly trading reports and fees
Qualifications and Skills
- Requirement to communicate effectively in bilingual environment
- Must have 3-5 years of experience in a Canadian brokerage or similar organization
- Must be CIRO licensed as an Investment Representative or Registered Representative
- Must have a diploma or university degree in Commerce, Finance, Engineering, the Sciences or a connected field.
- Must have intermediate-advanced experience with Excel
- Proficient knowledge of financial markets and experience trading on Canadian and US stock exchanges
- Exceptional time management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to function well within a team environment
- Other financial designations are considered an asset
- An interest in financial planning is an asset
